1965 Hasbro 4 ½ ” Dolly Darling Doll Susie Japan & 4 ½” Miss Merry Playmate Doll

Description

Both miniature dolls belonged to my mother who played with them in the 1960’s.
Details for Vintage 4 ½ ” Brunette Dolly Darling “Susie Goes to School” Doll:
*Part of Hasbro’s 1965 Hatbox Series that had 6 dolls in the series, all with molded hair
*Back of doll is marked, “©1965 ® HASBRO JAPAN”
*Doll has molded plastic dark brown hair that came with painted white and black “streaks/highlights”; *Hair has a painted red molded ribbon
*Arm and leg joints move; head turns
*Painted on light blue socks and strapped black shoes; there is an extra painted black mark on the top
of her right sock (see photo)
*Comes dressed in dark green felt top/plaid green-blue-black dress with working back snaps; she has
underwear, but it looks like they used to be glued on one side to keep them up (see photo)
*Her head has very small split and little piece of head plastic sticking out on left side of neck area (see
close-up photo)
*Comes with these original accessories: orange scissors and paper slide ruler

*I read that Hasbro Dolly Darling clone dolls were
called Miss Merry Playmate dolls
and
were made by Merry Manufacturing

*Doll has molded plastic yellow hair with painted green molded ribbon, has extra green paint mark on
the underneath right side of hair (see close-up photo)
*Arm and leg joints move, has extra white paint mark on her outer left knee; head turns
*Painted on white socks, no shoes
*Comes dressed in light green gingham dress with working back snaps, no underwear
*Her head has small split on each side of neck area (see close-up photos)
Please note that dolls with clothing/accessories were stored by my mother in a box for 50+ years and have always been from a smoke-free home. The items appear to be in good vintage condition, showing some wear/age/imperfections.
