    Description

** Parting out 1971-76 DeVilles & Fleetwoods, what can we list for you? **
The Eldorado line received a slightly revised front ends in 1972, which wasn't too far off of the 1971 Eldorado.  One thing that was different was the grille.....the 1971 had a finer (smaller) "eggcrate" look, and the 1972 became much more assertive with the larger "eggcrates".  The grill on auction (1972) will fit into a 1971.  This grille will NOT fit any other year Eldorado.
The 1970's ushered in the use of Chromed Plastic, or plastichrome as I tag it.  While the grilles were cost effective to produce (compared to the awesome metal/aluminum models of prior years), they turned out to be very poor survivors of real world conditions.  Many of them have the chrome crack and peel off....the inner grey paint stains and peels.....the chrome bars turn grey from years of road grime, salt, sunshine, ozone, etc.  To find "Very good ones" lately is quite a challenge.
THIS AUCTION: 1972 Cadillac Eldorado grille....A nice survivor, removed from a car that had been in storage for 20+ years.   I am calling this "above average condition.....somewhere between Good Condition and VGC (Very Good Condition).  It has NO cracks and NO physical damage.  Check out the closeup pics....a little bit of peel or stain in some of the eggcrates that you can perhaps clean up or touch up.  Chrome still has a decent shine (some haze, like 90% of them)...and grade it around 7-8 on a ten scale.  All mounting tabs accounted for, none damaged or broken..I remove them myself and take pains to keep the part complete.  This grill also includes the metal upper surround over the grille, which has "Cadillac" recessed into it.  It's pot metal, doesn't have much pitting except for the far-driver side vertical piece (in the grooves)...the top has about 4 pits, cleaner than most.  OVERALL it's a very presentable grill for being 47 years old (Car made in the fall of 1971).  They are very scarce since the Eldorado was a low production car (under 40K per year).  I grade it 7.5-8.0 on a scale of 10.  A very decent survivor but a notch or two under show quality.  Normal wear and tear for a part this age, keep your expectations realistic.
THIS IS A LARGE GRILLE WITH A STRONG ANGLE IN IT, SO THE BOX NEEDED IS MUCH BIGGER THAN ANY 1973-76 VERSION.
