*41" French Antique Hand Carved Solid Oak Wood Pediment/Crest Salvage.
Description:
This antique pediment was originally the center piece on a large buffet, I was told. This piece is made from solid oak wood finished to a warm dark color with a beautiful, as I describe it, “tiger wood like finish” in some places, as shown in close ups in photos. Overall the pediment is in very good antique condition with only one minor nick that I see to the shell carving top center. This has been touched up, and does not show up at all on display. Just thought I should point out. It is photographed up close for you. Elsewhere, perhaps some minor scratches and wear as is common in a piece this old, but nothing detrimental at all. Tiny pierced holes are in the curved cornice. These do not go through to back. I’ve photographed them. There are three holes that have been drilled for hanging, and these go through to back. Again, I’ve included close up photo. It measures about *40 3/4” long when measured at the longest piece tip to tip. It’s thickness (depth) is two inches in middle, and one inch on the extensions. At widest point it measures 8” wide.
There are picture type ‘o’ rings and picture wire attached to back for ease in hanging.
It would be lovely over a door, or added to an existing piece of furniture. I’ve shown it as the crown on a cabinet of mine in one of the photos. It’s a very nice piece with beautiful intricate hand carving. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in this! Please enlarge photos to fully appreciate its beautiful lines.
