Description of item for sale:
This beautiful Black Forest style pediment dates to the mid/late 1800's.  It is made from solid oak and all hand carved.  In addition to its striking size, it shows unusual depth and detail in the carvings.  It depicts scene of a chicken and rooster.  It is clearly an old piece but it was recently completely cleaned and freshly finished with antique grade paste wax.  It is in very good antique condition-straight and solid with only minor nicks and scratches consistent with its age and a very small number of old, inactive woodworm holes.
