    Description

This exterior white glazed terra cotta lintel/ fragment was salvaged from the Railway Exchange Building on Mighigan Avenue in Chicago.
It is an important architectural piece given the
building is directly tied to critical aspects of Chicago’s history and status as a preeminent center of architectural innovation.
In the 1980s, the light well was enclosed at the top, and the interior windows and walls were opened up which is probably when this piece, along with others, were removed.
There are like fragments from this building at the Art Institute of Chicago.
The architect on this project was Frederick P. Dinkelberg of the D.H. Burnham & Company architectural firm.
The building was built between 1903-4.
    It measures 31 1/2"w x 9"d x 11"h.
Condition is as shown in the photos with some damage.
    The left corner piece
    has been repaired.
